vitara suspension lift

Hi all,Im looking for a bit of input on a cheap(ish) way to lift a vitara.1.to fit slightly bigger tyres and wheels with a slight offset.2.a bit of extra clearance.It will be used occasionally off road as we already have a fully kitted 90.
   I have seen some polyeurathane spring spacers on ebay in sizes 25mm and 42 mm.Is this a suitable way of doing this and is there any pitfalls?

you can get 1 inch spacers from rocky road in america or a copy off ebay, ive got these on my vitara aswell as the 1.5 inch procomp lift kit and a 2 inch body lift, arch cutting was still required to get full lock and articulation etc with 31 x 10.50 r15

all depends on how deep your pockets are and what size wheels you want to put on

Gaz, this is the spec from the advert on my new toy.

The body lift has a bit more to it than just a lift from the sounds of it.


"Very reluctant sale of our 1991 Suzuki Vitara Off Roader: laid up for last 4 months but loss of garage forces disposal. MOT just expired (April), but checked by professional mechanic and only two known minor jobs needed - one front rubber boot, and brakes need bleeding through. This is a very capable off road vehicle:

-  Suzuki Vitara 3 door hard top, 1600cc, 8v. Garage stored.
-  Very large alloy wheels with mud tyres (very little wear). Locking nuts
-  3" professional body lift, with proper shox, extended fuel filler pipe
-  Custom metal front bumper
-  Extended gear sticks by Overland Components
-  Air filter pipe extended to roof line
-  Rear bumper removed: full light cluster conversions
-  Stereo radio / cassette, angle/inclinometer

With loads spent in the last year - here's a full list of recent work (many receipts available):

-  Recent head gasket (which it didn't need - hence the new rad !!!)
-  Recent recon carburettor (absolutely a non smoker)
-  New battery (3 year guarantee)
-  New starter motor (from Japanese 4x4)
-  New radiator (from Japanese 4x4)
-  One new front brake caliper (from Japanese 4x4)
-  New front brake pads
-  New rear light clusters etc for the rear bumper removal conversion

If price reaches a "sensible" amount, will also leave the working CB radio and new whip aerial with the vehicle."



When I pick it up and get it home I'll be looking at moding it more, anyone know of a local(Leics or surounding counties) off road type place to get bits from.
I'll be looking at underneath protection firstly.:)




I'm buying the Vitara from a chap near Guildford, anyone reckonise the motor?

Lara i was watchin that myself and was very tempted.I cant believe it stayed at that price >ill give you a bell tomorrow when i return from Kent with big wheels and tyres :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

I didnt really want to go down the body lift route just yet as we wanna see if she gets the off road bug :lol: before i go too daft.Those of you that have seen my 90 will vouch for that :roll:

Thumbs.....Ive gone for the 42mm version of the ones on ebay....any tips on fitting them as i aint got me hands on amanual yet...not that itll hinder me too much....i hope :oops:
