double shock mountings

just had a thought

i need to lift another 25mm which i will do with spring spacers

now i have springs that are 70mm longer than normal with +2 inch procomp shocks

i have seen the rear shock mounts that hold twin shocks and i have also seen them with a lower mounting  option

can you get them anywhere that do both (double shock and lower 1 inch)

and can you get front turrets that do the same

as my thinking is that if i lift another inch then i should lower the shocks too......the setup and ride now is perfect

How about the back end of a Disco II?  I find with the air springs at the back, it gets quite bouncy at times, even with OME shocks.  Would twins make a difference?

Twin shochs will make a difference because you shocks are only having to work half as hard, therfore the oil is cooler and so the damping effect is better. Only problem i can see is that the twin set up is not going to move as freely offroad. They are very popular with comp safari where they are driven very fast and so overheat rapidly.
Chuggerman,I wouldnt lift the front end with spacers myself, i did it and the results aren't brilliant.
The reason why your springs are compressed is because the are overloaded, designed for less weight. If you correct the ride height by spacers then you are not addressing the problem as springs are cleverly designed to work with a specific open, closed and loaded length. This set up will never work as well as the correct spring- as the spring is already compressed beyond its initial coils. On progressive springs the first movement is rapid to cope with large potholes, etc whilst traveling at speed. Hence you will have a stiffer less comfortable ride if they are compressed beyond this point.
I know of a company that can make springs to your spec, they make them for a few large 4x4 specialists. It is the best way to do it.

found what i need at scorpion

i fitted longet/taller springs so i could get more clearance between the bumpstop & axle so i had more travel for doin the comps,had the chop saw all set up ready for choping the mounts so i could lower them an inch BUT  if i did lower them & lost a bumpstop it would rip the shock clean off so just left it as it was,

misses the inner arch by 1 inch

hence when i welly it under uneven surfaces it sometimes hits

scorpion do a - 2" turret ander after a chat with them they will do this with an extra shock mount

so the finished suspension setup will give

4" lift all round and with the procomp plus 2 lowered by 2" all round they will be at the right height

the additions of double shocks all round will then stiffen things up a bit and give me that extra inch i need in the front

Ive removed that edge, the 35 catch it whatever you do. Why not fit standard height front turrets and buy 4 inch longer shocks??? then you will have even more droop! Just a thought. I have resigned myself to having poorer handling on the road for major improvments off it.
Why not be really unconventional and sort out the limiting factor on all landrovers, the front radius arms.
Have you uprated your propshafts as they will be the most likely thing to pop and are a pain in the bum when they do, as you are normaly miles from anywhere in the middle of a bog.

You can slice the top off the existing turret and then invert it after a bit of grinding. Then weld it back into place.

will try to do tonight, i was waiting for the next stage in the development...i have 15inch travel shocks ready and waiting, thats 3 inch more than scorpion at the front and an inch longer at the back. Will try and get a few photos done then keep you posted.
