Quick one for you people. Got a disco on steels with 225/75 16s
Got a rr with 205 R 16s on alloys (standard type)
anybody see any probs with a straight wheel/tyre swap over with these?
Apart from the poss probs with overall diameter difference, which I'm checking anyway

You ought to just need the correct wheel-nuts for alloys.

Presumably the weight isn't so great that LR prohibited the fitment of alloys to this stretched version.

They did with certain alloys for the 110's; Range Rover 3-spokers are a non type-approved fitment, thus illegal for use on a 110.
Don't look very good on one either.

I'm just mulling ideas around at the moment, the spare steel is too damaged to repair, & looking at the 205s the overall difference is not worth worrying about as far as the speedo is (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html)
& checking could be easier to replace the 205's than the 225/17 's

The way I understand it is that
205
225 75
and 235 70 all have just about the same rolling circumference.

I could be wrong.

As you go wider then there's sometimes a need to move the stops on the steering.

At 235 70 16 you can start to catch the rear wheelarch at the back under articulation. I've had to cut my rear wheelarch.

If it's MT tyres that are fitted and they have (what I call) side lugs then they will catch even worse.

My problems matching the right tyres with the right offset wheels seemed to be never ending.

I understand that Steel Disco wheels and Alloy Disco wheels have the same offset.

My tyres are uni directional so I need two spares.

There's always this American web-site that gets regular mentions, it's mainly concerned with the possible interferance of larger tyre sizes, but has rolling circumferances & overall heights.

Thanks for the offer Ed,

Checking that tyre sizer in the link, gives it for a 80 depth Mine is equiv to 100% so looks like the width & diameter will match

Yes looks ok generally, looking at the steel wheels they are showing some rust, but got some standard landy steels in the back, I may use one of them as a spare for now with the 225 on it, will be ok as a backup, & it will be under the cover on the door too

Just need to look at some prices

Mind you got a set of 15" wheels with some heavy chunk tyres on, Landair Falken RV 31x10.50 R 15 I think they might catch though

Mind you there are 4 disco wheels & tyres on ebay at the moment, 2 with good tread, off a 97 disco, up to £51
