Cambelt change on Disco V8

Hi everyone i was just wondering if anyone knew what mileage roughly a 1994 disco 3.9 v8 had to be changed as mine has done comiong up to 87 000 miles and I don't know wether it needs to be done or not. Cheers Tjsj

shout if i,m wrong but i think they have a timing chain on a V8 :?

well i,m going by my 1990 V8 and i,ve not seen a cambelt on that

yes but that one is a 3.5 and my one is a 3.9 but I don't know wether they are completly different or wether they are basically the same engine but with a few changes

all the v8s are basically the same just more cc's,they all have a timing chain that shouldnt need replaced unless it has done a sky high mileage or has been trashed,also find out if its been ouil changed regularly as that can lead to major problems as they get gunked up easily

thanks for that it helps a lot stops me worrying about it now it has only done 87,000 which is fairly low for an m reg it has had frequent oil changes from new as it was the previous owners pride and joy and he was the first owner im also thinking about fitting some bfg mts to the standard freestyle rims what do you think

Mostly the V8 engines outlast the gearboxs.

Nothing wrong with that. They will go on there without any problems, are staying with the standard size? If your thinking about going wider then the steering stops on the swivel housings may need adjusting and if your going taller then watch the rear arches on full articulation as they tend to touch the trailing edge with a standard suspension set-up.

Have a look at this website for info on what size tyres will fit.  :wink:
