Urgent Help
« on: July 24, 2005, 20:51:57 »
My 3.9 RRC has been running perfectly.  Came out to move it & it just wont start.  Turns over fine, pleanty battery but not even trying to fire at all.  Any tips please as where to start looking.  Am now cleaning the plugs but they are really OK, just a bit rich.--Cogs--PS We start a weeks c/vanning holiday on Wed--Panic -panic.

Thanks Beast, read all of them & I seem to have done those things, just to re-cap--It was running fine, parked up as normal but just wont start.  Fitted new plugs-no luck.  Checked fuse C4(fuel pump) its OK.  Took plug out & re-connected it to its lead-pleanty spark from it.  The old plugs were not wet, been running a bir rich looking at them.
There is NO smell of petrol.  Is there a pipe that can be taken off/loostenecd to check if the pump is pumping OK? Anything else I can check before the dreaded Garage has to be called?--Cogs

Fixed---I went to check the earth from the tank to the chassis on the nearside rear & found that the plug from the tank unit had come un-plugged. A spray of plug cleaner + tapeing it up & alls OK again.
If anyone has similar probs there are some other things that can cause the motor not to start.
1) check the cut-off switch under the passengers seat right at the back-a little black box with a pop-up button. Make sure the button is DOWN.( the button has a RED stalk so you can see if it's popped up)
2) The earth wire from the tank unit to the chassis is OK (nearside rear behind the wheel)-it corrodes through.
3)the 2 relays at the back of the drivers seat behind the ECU(they should click when the ignition is switched on/off)
Holidays are now back on.
