A really useful tip

Posting this in "NALA" as it's useful to everyone...

This may be obvious to some, but it wasn't to me.   :?

I was talking to brother-in-law (ex REME veh mech, so he knows his Land Rovers) about the alternator belt on my Disco, and how it was such a pain in the rear to change.  He said to me, "did you put two on?".  Huh?

What I SHOULD have done, is put two new belts in place.  One actually on the pulleys, and another tied out of the way.  That way, if the belt snaps or needs changing, I can just cut the old one out and slot the new one into place.  It's such a simple and obvious idea.

Shame he didn't tell me about it until AFTER the event.

Hmm, good one that, obvious but good, due a full service and belt change too, so will take not on that one

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40
