Would like to recommend the 4 Wheelers Handbook by Jim Allen

Covers crossing most terrain from sand to snow including mud types!

Essential kit to carry, spares gear box useage, winching the lot really

Even looking after your dog when on the trails
Jeep drivers don't eat quiche

I can recommend Offroader Driving by Tom Shepherd also.  A very good grounding in what to do and what not to do.

Authors a ex US army and landie techinician with 20 plus years experience

He's written numerous books n articles on off roading I presume mainly in the US

Couldn't agree more, but the better version is 'The Land Rover Experience' book & 'The Vehicle Dependant Expedition Guide'

The land rover experiance book is excellant!

I run a club and we use it for safer driving all the time, an excellant book!
