ABS Blankers for axles??
« on: August 24, 2005, 09:14:41 »
Ive just bought a set of axles for a disco and the front have the ABS sensors removed.

Thats fine as I dont want them BUT there is now like a hole (looks like the king pin is missing buts not) so can you get something to block these ABS sensor holes?

If not I'll metal putty them or make a plate and silicone it down but was looking for the easiest option!

Why do you need to blank/fill them? (asking, not arguing  )

They are going on the hybrid and when you look into hole, it goes into the internals of the swivel.  When I go into water and mud they will fill up and it will be new swivel time.....

And I hate doing swivels!

Just want to stop the water and mud getting into them

How weird!

Could you not put a bolt through with a bit of instant gasket on the washers?

Very weird!!

I thought when I picked the axle up the king pins were missing!!

The holes are quick large so I think a plate or a bit of metal putty might just be easier.

Pain in the bum

You could always find a local garage and ask them to keep a couple of dead ABS sensors for you... bound to be plenty about ;-)

I understnad that thew ABS axles have a top bush, not a bearing.  If so I wonder if they will last as long for your hybrid......

My 90 axles don't have bearings in the top.... I don't think you'll see any problems.
