Engine surging problem
« on: August 25, 2005, 14:47:29 »
SWMBO has rung today complaining that her 300tdi es auto is surging when travelling at about 55-60 like it loses power then picks up again then it goes away and all is fine , its not constantly doing it :?
she also said it did it a while back before we went to yorkshire on holiday
while driving all round yorkshire and all back down the M1 i noticed nothing at all and even remarked how sweetly it was running(fatal i know before anyone says)
any ideas what might be causing this?

First stop is to check the fuel filters, etc.  Might be something simple.

I hope it's not the same problem I had.

Just cost me £180.
I'm not a happy bunny. Still it was a lot better than a new pump.
It was springs in the fuel injector pump.

well having had a play around with it and checking the filters for water, checking the pipework for leaks etc i can find nothing :?  took for a test drive and cant reproduce the fault so will just have to keep an eye on it and see if it does it again
