splitcharger for disco

need to put a split charger and a new battrey in to run my new winch only thing is when it comes to wires im no good can anyone tell me what i need where to get it and how much  thanks

If it is just for the winch, I would bother with a split charge unit to be honest.

A second battery connected in parallel with your current one can help with capacity, but to be honest, I would make sure your alternator is up to the job before you start worrying about split charge systems... just another thing to add cables and connections to the system.

so just put another battery in and put the + from one to the - on the other and the+from the new one to the - on the old one i think

+ to + and the neg to the body or you'll end up with a big melted mess

Yup + to + you can earth the batteries together at the winch, but put a back up earth on the new battery as well.

As I said.. before you go jumping in to fitting extra batteries... make sure your existing battery is in good condition, and check that you have a sensible alternator on there...  a 45A std one isn't going to be a lot of cop if you are winching for any sort of time.
