Allard Intercoolers

Does anyone use one of these Intercoolers?

Are they as good as the Alisport ones?

I've e-mailed the supplier and they say that the Alisport ones are a copy of theirs.

If the Allard ones are better than (or the same as) the Alisport ones, I'm getting one (they're only £200 against Alisport's £400).

Well, it's only £200 if no one else bids on it

They seem very insistent that most other suppliers are inferior and/or copies, don't they!

I have also sent them a load of questions.

interesting as the defender non air con option is:-
Core size 500 mm X 320 mm X 55 mm
Total outer dimensions—Width 640 mm X Height 340 mm X Thickness 100 mm
Inlet tube @ 51 mm
Outlet tube @ 51 mm
Upper mounting bosses @ m8 thread
Lower mounting rods—@ 10 mm
Aluminium grade 1050a
End tank thickness 2.0 mm
Boost pressure rating upto 2.5 b.a.r
18 row air cooling capacity
D.i.y fitting with instructions

the discovery air con option is:-
Core size 500 mm X 190 mm X 55 mm
Total outer dimensions—Width 610mm X Height 190 mm X Thickness 125 mm
Inlet tube @ 51 mm
Outlet tube @ 51 mm
Upper mounting brackets @ 8mm
Lower mounting brackets
Aluminium grade 1050a
End tank thickness 2.0 mm
Boost pressure rating upto 2.5 b.a.r
10 row air cooling capacity
D.i.y fitting with instructions

the discovery option is obviously smaller than the defender option and conects to the original unit they claim the same power increase :?:
i make no judgement just an observation :?
i also beleve that alisport fit a fatter core, i think i read it on the forum somewhere. thus making it a totaly different settup :?

The Discovery option shown is in addition to the standard intercooler, whereas the Defender option replaces the standard intercooler. Different solutions giving similar results apparently!

Do they fit them for you and tune the necessary bits?

To be honest, Allisport not only fit an intercooler but also tweak the fuel pump to enable the power increase (it's a diesel - more power needs more fuel and more air).

Just fitting the intercooler will make less difference than you think.

As regards the Ebay advert, an intercooler is nowt more than an air-blast heat exchanger and Allard certainly don't hold patent on that technology!

If the advert is representative of this businesses acumen then I'd call Allard/whoever and buy direct.

cheers

That Disco option is only for those with Air-con, the non air-con Allard kit requires the removal of the original and the new one goes right across the front grill.
The Allard setup I have on the Disco is good, no complaints with it and it's been fitted for over 3 years now. :D
I did have problems getting all the parts, they arrived over a two week period, with few phone calls, and then trying to get hold of someone to ask a question about DIY fitting was a nightmare!

I seem to remember that the people now running Allisport used to work for Allards, years ago, and went out on thier own. But don't hold me to that info!!
