Front Lights & Bumpers
« on: September 01, 2005, 21:35:07 »
Has anybody ever tried changing the headlights on a 200tdi to the larger units on a 300 tdi?
My plastic surrounds are looking manky and the small lights have always been a bit pathetic anyway.

While I'm at it I am also thinking of changing the bumpers to all steel ones, possibly the sills as well. Any ideas?

Dave,

Simmonites do a kit to convert 200Tdi headlights to 300Tdi, includes the grill.  ISTR they are about £250ish.

I picked up a Bumper and end caps and plastic bits for my 200Tdi from a breakers.  Cleaned the bumper up and gave it about five coats of Hammerite Satin Black.  Looks good.  Paid £75.

The headlights are one of the things I'm gonna change at a later date too.

You can make the 300 lights fit the 200 surrounds with some mods to the surrounds and the headlight mounts.

The whole lot can be swapped over with some minor alterations to the way the lights and indicators fit.

Please can you tell me where you got the bumpers from? I don't suppose you have the door checker plate as well?

I'll try Simmonites when I am home, I like the idea of the Grill as well, I am Mid Atlantic at the moment so it will be a while.

ISTR that someone like John Craddock sell just about everything you'll ever need (except for battery retention bars!!)  Sure I've seen the bumpers on their website.

Also try MM 4x4
