read this on another forum(link below)
they claim it will be harder for people to tamper with/clone number plates
automatic payment for using toll roads will be made easier
and then they will bring in mileage charges 'cos the technology will be in place and easy to adapt
they say it can be used for tracking terrorists, if a person IS a terrorist then they should be arrested not tracked ( think about it)
****** its just big brother time :x
i hope there not wading proof then i can go and drown the *******
apologies in advance for the strong language

Thing is they'l expect us to pay for them so that they can spie on us.  How the hell will that allow them to track terrorists anyway, you have to know the terrorists have got the car in the first place surely?

Yet more crap from some bright spark in government. It'll never happen, it'll cost too much and if they think they can pin this on the donkey of the war against terror they will laughing at.  What criminal of any kind will not be able to bypass this system, or care about the consequences of doing so.  The penalty for mass-murder is surely going to be greater than tampering with a number plate

I'm getting sick of all the stuff they're trying to dump on us because of 'terrorists' and the 'terrorist threat'.

Do they think we're stupid or something?  Do they think that if they can scare us enough we'll agree to anything???

First it was Picture driving licences, then ID cards (Umm, isn't that what me driving licence is now??).  DNA Databases and now smart number plates.  Where is it going to end, they gonna micro chip us too like we do with pets????
No, it's not me!

How would you ever know if it stopped working? Say, after driving through a ford, or running into a rock? This is even dumber than the GPS based road charge system       Stupid people with too much time on their hands and a mandate to make a difference.

Why not just put a chip in my head.  Then you can charge me for every step I walk down your pavement, or for a every family picnic I take in Sherwood forest, tax me for being happy if you want or for every hour that I sleep.  I'll let you do all those things becuase I'm really scared of terrorists and you've convinced me that they're all around me  8-[ Here's half my wages to pay for all this crap.  It's worth it becuase you are such a kind and caring government and I feel safe now

Yes and yes. It worked for Bush and his patriot act.

Perhaps they have read 1984 and think we haven't... what was the concept about always being at war and demonising the enemy again :?

There is an old saying that society gets the politicians (and teenagers) that it deserves.

We as a country elected our government.... we as an electorate have access to our MPs and representatives.  They are there to act on our behalf.

Maybe that is an idealistic view... but far too many people choose to moan and complain rather than exercising their right to reply to the people that govern us.
