EX - POLICE DISCOVERY

Hi all, been looking at a 2001 X plate 4.0 V8 auto.

It's got A/C,ABS,Alloys,Full History   etc.etc.........

The only thing that is putting me off is the mileage which is 102,000.

At £5995, the price seems good.

Any thing to look out for ?

My Classic is looking a bit tired now so it maybe time for a change......

Cheers,

SPIKEY.

At that price I would think you couldn't go wrong.
The milage is nothing to worry about as most of it will have been done the motorway, so not much strain on the engine or drivetrain, and it will have had regular servicing throughout it's life.

just make sure you get any service history with it and have a look at the chassis and make sure ALL the electric work.  :D

Depends how you look at it.....

I was talking to my mate who's a traffic cop about ex police vehicles....

His view - I wouldn't buy one!!

Police vehicles, although well maintained and serviced, do get cained... i.e driven very hard/punished!!!!

They will get driven flat out chasing people, used to pull/push broken down vehicles (I've seen a police Rangy pulling a HGV!!) and will get blasted through the gears from a standing start to catch somebody up - to name a few uses.

In saying that, dependes what the Disco was used for, but judging by the mileage it's been a Traffic Cops car.

The other problem is the fact that there will numerous holes in the dashboard and in the roof.

Thanks for the replies folks.

The company selling the cars give a 12 month warranty, the holes are filled in and the dash put back in place.

They have got some P38 Rangies coming next week, so I might just hang on.................

Cheers,

SPIKEY.

P.S ..........I might buy a Pajero /Shogun L.W.B instead
( Just a footnote for the spies on Pajerouk  :!:  :!:  :!: )

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo

Give the choice between a D2 and a P38.. the D2 has to win every time...  mostly because it is far less likely to stop working for no apparent reason.

They probably get stopped because they are white, just to make sure you aren't impersonating them.  Any inferance that it's unroadworthy becauser it's been a police car would reflect badly on them more than you.
