Great Film
« on: September 10, 2005, 22:05:41 »
I spent part of the afternoon watching a great old film from my collection & realised how many stars got their breaks in it.
'American Graffiti'

Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws, Close Encounters)
Charles Martin Smith (Untouchables)
Ron Howard (Happy Days)

Paul LeMat
Candy Clark (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)
Cindy Williams (Laverne & Shirley)

And possibly the biggest name of the cast in recent years only got 2nd co-star listing!
Harrison Ford (yes, the Star-Wars, Airforce 1, Indiana Jones guy) was a hot-rodder.

Directed by a certain George Lucas (the Star-Wars guy?)
Produced by Francis Ford Coppola (Apocalypse Now)

Loads of great music from the opening blast of 'Rock Around the Clock', to the closing 'All Summer Long' (Beach Boys)

Plus the greatest (US) DJ of all time Wolfman Jack

And of course the cars :(biglove):  :(biglove):  :(biglove):  :(biglove):  :(kerching):  :(kerching):
Where do I start?
Milners '32 Coupe? (awesome)
Falfas 55 Chevvy (big-block 454)

It's in my all time top-10 for my 'Desert Island DVD's'

I suppose so, especially in 'Graffitis' case, as it's not as well known.
Even allowing for its (nowadays) mulit-million dollar cast

Is this the edition you mean?

I've also got the 'part 2'

I still can't get over how young Harrison Ford & Richard Dreyfuss look, even allowing for the time since it was made

Ah, vinyl..... my wife has only ever seen 'proper' records when I played them. She's only 10 years younger than me but it makes me feel *really* old  :?

Can't say I've seen American Graffiti. Must go and rent it.

Kelly's Heroes..... caught the second half...... could watch that over and over. Donald Sutherland at his all time best! Another film with a big name cast before many became megastars.

I watched another great film yesterday

(off work with a stonking cold, can't spread it around all the old dears, can I??)

'Hazzard Homecoming'
The first 'Dukes' film (of 2) with the original cast, bar Sorrell Brookes (Boss Hogg), who died a few years ago.

It's a good film (or so I think)
We see the General looking exactly how he was found in the Warner brothers back-plots, cover ing bird droppings & crusty with dirt.
Wopat (Luke) & Schneider (Bo) look fairly similar, as does Denver Pyle (Jessie)
Admittedly Catherine Bach is a few pounds heavier, but she'd only recently given birth.
Still she looks fine, & it is over 20years since the last one was made.

'Cooter' Davenport is now a US Congressman (as he was in real life)

I think I might watch 'Hooper' this afternoon :D
