Anti-roll bar removed?

Hi , as you can see by my sig i have disco with a 2" lift which was only fitted recently, so i took the said disco into my chappie today tyo have polybushes fitted and we discovereda vibration and lean to left by 2" approx, after deliberation and much hmphing...i am told that we should (we?) have removed anti-roll bars when the lift was fitted as the bar had caused said lean? has anyone heard of this? or indeed had their anti-roll bar removed?

my friend has got a 3" lift on his and when we went to wales geenlaning
he managed to bend his anti roll bar and his was leaning on the back he took it off in the end. joe

never heard of an ARB causing a lean,new one on me,lifted mates disco 2 inches without any probs in thaty department & my dads 11o is lifted with the ARB's still fitted,

Your choice but they do what it says on the tin....
some disco 1's didnt have em. Mine doesnt and hey presto it rolls like a cross channel ferry!

Hmmm, I can't see how the bars could cause the lean - the principle behind them after all is to stop leans!

I took mine off when I did the lift (2") and I'm actually surprised by it's road manners (you really need to be careful not to hit the brakes hard on the bend though)

Perhaps the springs got fitted to the wrong sides maybe? Or could there be a problem with a damper not extending?

More likely to be the springs, aren't they handed on the Disco?  Unless the ARB is twisted and that's unlikely.  Acid test, drop one end and see what happens, if the bar twists away when you loosen it you know it's doing something and which way it twists tells you what.

I think they were a 'new addition' for the 300's so they were on from 1994ish.

What happens is the ARB is now at a higher angle chassis/axle so when you lower a wheel the axle drops and INVERTS to anti roll bar ball joint link. IN your case I would say you only managed to do ONE side, hence the lean.

You can do 2 things....

Remove the ARB all together, it is legal and will pass an MOT. However there is a debate as to whether this constitutes a modification that your insurance company needs to know about.

or

Buy some spacers to fit under the D-bushes of the ARB to the same thickness/height of your lift.  Range Rover Blues has towball spacers on his, so does Gords I believe.

sorry when i said bent  i should of said twisted yes his twisted when their were some rocky section and the axles were twisting about and when i was following him you could notice the lean. joe

Been there, done that.  I'm working on a quick release for mine now, so I can get better articulation off-road.

So...collected disco, all level, drives better, no vibration and NO ARB ...well its in the boot so anyone need one?

Apparently " the anti-roll bar link had flipped over" so all sorted now..still none the wiser though!
