Hi Simon, There are no real problem areas with the Jimny, early models 98-99 suffered gearbox probs also clutches seemed to go quickly , just check the usual things cambelt needs changing at around55,000 , the transfer-box mounts tend to crack if the cars seen heavy off-road use h/d steel ones are 75pounds a pair soft/tops suffer stud failure seat base trim breaks off , mine has been megga reliable thats as much as i can tell you , my W reg 2000 jlx with 2inch lift / 215/80/15 machos snorkel , recent cambelt change and major service 10mnths mot /tax is for sale @ 3,3oo pm me if intrested.
