Cleaning the Intercooler
« on: September 17, 2005, 16:15:20 »
Anybody know the recommended method of cleaning the intercooler on a Defender TD5 fitted with Air Con. I've run a hose thought the Radiator and the AirCon Rad and got most of the mud out of them. However I can't really get to the intercooler in the middle without completely disassembling the front of the vehicle. And if I'm going to do that I might as well fit an uprated intercooler while I'm in there

Also the electric fan on the fron of the Air Con Rad is going all the time, this can't be right can it? I'm guessing there is an temp control for it somewhere anybody know where?

Cheers

Dave.

I've found the Temp Sensor, and disconnected it, but the leccy fan still comes on as soon as you start the engine.

Anybody know what sort of sender they are? It's only got one wire, so I'm assuming common earth.

Also while putting things back together, I noticed there is what looks like an oil trace, on the outlet from the turbo to the intercooler, where the pipe rubber pipe connect to the turbo, possible as if oil was blowing back from the pipe. (Presumably from the pressure built up in the pipe)
