The Fabulous '50ths'
« on: February 21, 2004, 23:06:29 »
Seeing as there's the 'Shiney Blue Crew' still out there,  I thought it might be nice for Sogster, myself & others to have our own little group.

So here's my motor for starters complete with 'BWSOW' during a trip out last week

Here's one I spotted this afternoon whilst out walking with Jack & Gypsy.

It was at a pub in the outskirts of the village on the A642, just short of the M62.

Never seen this one in the area before.
The  '50th' badges are on the doors for some reason on this one.

I also see another 2 on a semi-regular basis, plus the owner of another one occasionally attends the Hospital.

All in all that's 5 I've seen since buying mine in the local area.
I counted 3 at Billing last year.

'Certain' mudders might say they're common, but I can see about 20 Discoverys per day and not see the 50th's amongst them, so they're not that common :)

Land Rover produced a 1000, as a mixture of Tdi manual (& auto), plus the V8i auto (no manuals as far as I know)

A 1000 were built David all together.
Compared to the amount of Discoverys that were built every month, it's a insignificant number. :D

That picture is actually from last October, Andy.
I'll try to use the Nikon film from yesterday (Holme-Moss) over this week & get it scanned in

Didn't go to Lincolnshire this morning, went to York at 14:30 to go somewhere, but when I arrived it was closed. Not my day.

I took the digital camera back this morning, and exchanged it for a better (used) model that will take a SmartCard.
The problem is that now it won't load to the PC.
It will accept the 'uninstall' programme, but not actually install the programme for loading the images as data.  :x

You can always pick up one of the multi card readers for a few quid, & your system will allocate it as another drive letter

Kev; it didn't come with a card, as it's got an internal 8mb memory. I was hoping to avoid buying a card, as it's simply to keep in the motor.

Still I might have to go that route if it doesn't accept the programme.
Sadly it doesn't look like I can get a reader that will accept this cameras 'SmartMedia' card & the 'xD' from the Olympus.

Here's a picture of it looking 'sh....sh...shi...'
No I can't say it, clean will have to suffice.
Taken on Ramsden Lane on Sunday afternoon (wrongly called Rakes Road by me elsewhere)
A nice big rock step just around the corner made me decide not to go any further, I was by myself & had only seen hikers & a couple of bikers.

The hikers acknowledged the Byway status & were happy to share

You'll have to swap your shed for my shed then Richard. If I could have any UK van then it'd be a Crusader as long as it came with a free awning. I wouldn't like the price of an awning.

Ed; I'll agree the price of an awning for a Crusader is exorbitant.
I'm just glad that we got a (reputedly) 8month old awning with ours.

I'll keep you in mind when we sell it. Well, you might have to fight it out with 'Frankie-Boy' :D

I quite fancy an -& we almost bought a 3year old example- Avondale Land-Ranger.

Also considered a brand new Challenger or Coachman Pastiche, before we saw the Crusader.
