I know the insurance issue is always cropping up up, but here goes...

My renewal is in about 2 weeks, so I've been phoning around.
The quotations are surprising to say the least.

At present I'm with Adrian Flux.
My renewal is;
 Ã‚£294.00 = Policy
 Ã‚£25.00 = 'Issuing Fee' :twisted:  :twisted:
 Ã‚£13.00 =  Additional Personal Accident Cover

Giving a grand total of
£332.00

That's for having/being;
Fully comprehensive, a couple of weeks short of 40, SWMBO as a named driver, one claim about 13years ago, clean licence held since March 1983.

Out of interest & being a parsimonious Yorkshireman, I tried a few others

Sureterm = £469
GreenLight = £358.00
Swinton = £489 (just me, but £457 with Joanne :? )
Churchill = £486 (with a £350 excess :shock:  :shock: )
Privilege = £471 (£150 excess & a voluntary extra £150 excess??!)

Am I expecting too much?, or am I living in the past expecting cheap insurance?

Plus it's gone up since last year (without a claim :twisted: )
Must be with helping to pay out for the victims of all the un-insured little scrotes!


Can anyone suggest anyone else worth trying

BTM! I got mine with Greenlight! A policy designed for 4x4's
Parts only! And it worked out for me as  the main car at £199 + about £27 for the legal stuff  All Fully comp! You need to talk to barrie scott or PM him and mention the "parts only policy" and he will explain it to you!

Can't remember how much mine was, around £260 fully comp,
for me and Sally, full no claims, now 50 and driving since 1975.

Then the renewal for the V8 went silly, it went up by over £150!!!

it shouldn't make any difference  to your insurance if you have
held a driving licence for at least 10 years
at least 5 years no claims
any driving offences over 3 years old
the only differences should be
occupation, postcode, vehicle insurance group (for a standard vehicle)
brokers claim that they search hundreds of companies for the best quote  :lol:

My Disco, with ALL the mods declared, was £199 with NFU this year with Carol as a named driver.
I get a little extra discount as I'm classed as a crofter because of my field in front of the house that a chap up the road keeps his sheep in.  :wink:

Maybe the insurance cost is so high cos you live in the "The Texas of England"!!  :(biglaugh):

Now I know you're all going to laugh at me because my insurance is with Morethan  :lol: Trust me, it'too expensive and since I'm soon going to lift the disco by 2" I can't stay with them anyway.  But I go my renewal quote earlier in the year and it had gone up by about £100 so I checked out what it would be through their online quote system and it came out £120 quid cheaper than my renewal  :twisted: I rang them and told them this. They weren't surprised. I told them that what I would do was cancel my insurance with them and immediately take out a new policy with them over the internet for £120 less  :roll: They said that sounded like a good idea   :lol:

Really I should switch just for that  :wink:

£518 FC on my 90 with my dad as a named driver,3 points in 2004 & driving since 2003 Oh & im only 20  :lol:  8)

That seems an awful lot!!
Just got insured through Adrian Flux on our Disco. 4 years no claims, no accidents or convictions, £225 for the year fully comp, covered for off road use and green lanes. They also told me that the mods we intend to do won't make a lot of difference to the cost.

Just bought a Disco 300tdi Commercial transfered my insurance from my VW transporter which used to cost £440 now paying £350 with the CIS this is a commercial policy with fully comp cover and £150 excess I thought that this was a good deal , I have been loyal to the CIS as in my youth if I ever had an accident they had the car back on the road within a week every time reguardless of whos fault it was
