what do I want?
« on: September 29, 2005, 16:36:47 »
Hi folks. I am looking into buying another Land Rover :D  but am not sure exactly what to buy, here is the situation. SWMBO starts a new job in Jan which will involve a daily drive along a high, steep, isolated moor road. The plan is to buy a Discovery or classic Range Rover as an extra vehicle that I will use all year round for a bit of fun on green lane trips, fundays and perhaps a bit of RTV trialing. SWMBO will keep her present car and use the Land Rover on icy/snowy days in winter. I was thinking of something cheap, we don't mind dents etc but do need solid and reliable, as the miles will be low I thought V8. Does this plan make sense? Do you know of anything for sale? or have any better sugestions.

Mike
If you can't get there in a Land Rover you can't get there

Self built Range Rover/Lightweight hybrid (yes the one with yellow wheels)

That it may be, but it'll be more economical to run on those cold and snowy days!

Sure, you can gas a v8, but is your nearest gas station close?

Just my tuppence

cheers

My feeling was that a V8 would be cheaper to buy/lower miles. Plus with the low miles we will be doing the extra fuel cost is not a big issue. That and I love V8s :)

Seems like you know what you want, you're just needing us to justify it for you!

Which I'm more than happy to do!

You'll get a better Rangie for the money than you will a Disco - but look out for lemons in both species - rear floors especially!

Oh yeah, sit back and enjoy the noise. Hmmm, how much does Nelly want for Piglet!

cheers

Always remember reading, and re-reading (and reading again) the article in LRO about the build up your Lightweight....

For ages I wanted a Coil spring Lightweight.... infact I still wouldn't say no now!!!

Well here is your chance, just persuade Neil to part with Piglet, and the object of your desire could be yours.
