oil change?
« on: October 03, 2005, 02:21:21 »
Hello!

First thread in this section..

It's time for an oil change in my new motor..2002 Td5 110.

So: what's the correct grade of oil and how much will I need, or to put it another way just how many litres can I expect to whoooooosh out all over my hands and onto the drive way?

Cheers
Andy

had the wooooshhh problem with my 2.25
dont know how much will go into the TD5 but try calling local dealers as they will probably tell you for free
(just give them the impression you'll be buying the oil, filer etc from them)

you will need the 2 oil filters & aprox 8 ish litres of oil (drain it when its hot & more comes out)book says 7 1/2 but normally takes around 8,cant remember of the top of my head what the Nos are for the filter BUT one is under tyhe turbo & the other (the spinner) is infront of the turbo under a metal cover

Thought I'd phone the local Stealer.....

84 quid plus vat! that's for the non gold plated filters and doesn't include a night out on the lash!

gor blimey guvnor.  kwik shfit wanted 35 notes all in but I think I'd rather diy

Does seem a bit steap.

I've just checked Paddock Spares and they have the following listed for the TD5 Defender:
Genuine oil filter (LPX100590G) = £5.00 + vat
Fuel filter (ESR4686) at £10.50 +vat - £27.50 for a genuine one!
Genuine air filter (ESR4238G) @ £8.95 + vat

So I make that £34.60 inc VAT for 2 oil filters and one each of the others.
