Recently the old bill, wouldn't let me shift a broken down bus, that was in a dangerous situation, they we're very short with me, and told me to stop holding up traffic. I was tempted to point out I was offering to move the hold up, but I thought better of it, and carried on my way.

About 2 years ago I moved a coach off a roundabout for Plod, and yes, I did make a point of asking the driver if he had any air left for the parking brake before trying to pull it!

Apparently these days even they (Plod) aren't supposed to move such vehicles, due to intervention by the Safety Nazis.  So the country grinds to a halt because some Shiney A**e says it's 'Unsafe to move a vehicle to a safe location, except by a dedicated Recovery Vehicle' ... :x

Similar situation with me in mid 2003. I came across a 24tonner (?), well a 6x4 tanker, that was in a bad place.
So I offered to try & move it for the driver.
I managed & had just got it to a safe place, when Wakefields finest came along.

"Could have done with you 10minutes ago to hold the traffic"

"Can you move your vehicle now sir, you're blocking the road"
"Well thanks a lot Officer"
