I know most of you are going to say ''are you mad'', but was speaking to a chap from another forum & he said he had seen a disco owner that had turned his wheel's round (as in revesed them!!!), appantley he had welded up the counter sinking on the outside & contersunk the inside :? ,
anyone eslse heard of this being done :?: & if so would it be like fitting off set rims or just plain stupid & dangerous :?:

Like most things of this type - it's fine if it's been done properly

a couple of guys in my club have reversed disco wheels & wht they had done was the centres cut out fliped over & welded back in,also got to move the valve hole aswell,
IMHO DONT do it yourself unless you are a highly competent welder etc, personally if i was doing that they wouldnt get used on the road,

Hi, have done a search but there is no final yes or no, the welding side of it is not a problem as i am BOC certificated, might just swap them round when i get chance just to see what they look like,

Can't remember where I've seen it, but there's pictures somewhere on-line of a 10" wide(?)rim with a Range Rover (Rostyle) centre.
Years ago (some point in very early 90's?) in
'Off Road & Four Wheel Drive'
magazine, Tony Parrott did the same with one of his 'No Problem' trialers, as supported by the magazine at the time.

Used to do that on VW based buggies and stuff in the 80's. Seem to remember that they weren't road legal. The law was changed as I remember, meant that you could use wheels that had been altered before the regulations changed, but any made after had to be for off road only. (Dunno how you'd be able to tell??)
May have changed again since though....... :?
