Engine removal/Vehicle overhaul
« on: October 10, 2005, 21:11:02 »
For some reason I had a mad idea to take the engine out of the Disco and have it overhauled, at the same time have the vehicle treated to a new coat of paint.

Been thinking of doing this for a while.  The plan is to maybe (not definately) do this during next spring/summer.  Would take the vehicle off the road during this time.

Just wondering how much it would cost me to have the engine removed overhauled and reinstalled (I am about as technical as a toffee apple) and to have a new paint job done.  Thinking of a pearlescent black.

Would also be replacing the headlights etc.  Might also get it waxoyled or similar at the same time.

Cheers

Yeah I got that this morning and they are to blame for kicking off this idea again!!!!   :P

But they never give any indication of price for this sort of thing!

If you're not in a hurry you can do a lot of it youself. It's when you start to need engineering skills that you may not have.

We might be doing similar on Bev's V8 soon.

They haven't said, but I'm sure you caould give them a call and they would love to talk about it until they have put you too sleep. There should be a phone number in there somewhere, they are based at Emap Towers PEterborough (should be a 01733).

Or whasn't it frog Island they were using for the majority of the work.... try them.

I thought it was too obvious (so nearly didn't say it!)

Hopefully the price won't scare you off.....

Emailed them in the end and got this back...

Refence the cost of the engine rebuild it would depend on what sort of condition your engine is in, how far you would like to go, and what components require replacement, the same goes for the respray,it would depend on what sort of work is required, ie if there is any rust to be taken care of or dents that would need attention and the biggest thing that would influence it would be the extend you would like on the respay for example different colour, internal and external respary or just external,

The best way we could provide an acuarate estimate would be if you could come in to see us and then we could get a clearer picture of you reqiurement.

Thank you for the enquiry, if you would like some more details or if there is anything else we can help you with please don't hesitate to contact us.

Regards
Neil

Will have to do that.  Think a trip there will be very worthwhile.
