does anyone no how 2 do gcse geography cos i find it hard and boring

i had a trip to newark today and was rubbish

im no help as i didnt do gcse's,i did stanfdard grades & persuaded the teacher to tell us all we needed to kno  :lol:  :lol:

Ive got both GCSE and A-level

I found it great BUT it was teacher dependant

And neither can some older people.......
like SWMBO who once famously set off (after picking a friend up) down the M1 after joining at jct 39 & got as far as Barnsley before realising it wasn't the way to York :lol:  :lol:
Her excuse......... they were talking.

At least now she has to know where she's going, although it's mainly Leicester, Market Harbough, Hinckley & Salford.
I've got her into the habit of using 'Multi-Map' to fine tune her destinations



Going back to the younger generation, it wasn't the same when I was a lad........... :roll:

I notice this with the (mainly) 20-30 year old Nurses (male & female), they can describe in great detail where a bar is in a Spanish, Greek, whatever town & even the cheapest food (& alcohol)
BUT...... they can't even tell me (if I ask) how to get to, recent examples;
Lancaster
Berwick-upon-Tweed
Settle

The Doctors tend to do better, as they have to move between Hospitals as part of their rotation.

Is it just something I'm picking up on???

Cheaper land-prices & more space to plan the layout accordingly.

Being slightly cynical, it could also be seen as an attempt at 'Social Engineering'

It was also seen (in the 30's) as a way of 'improving the lot' of the 'working classes' by removing them from the smokey cities (destroying a lot of communities in the process though)

If you look at a map of southern England in particular, you'll see that the 'new towns (suburbs) follow the established path of the railways.
I reckon that the railway companies owned a lot of land either side of the tracks & sold it (or did deals) over the construction of new estates (both private & council)

Easy Mistake, north or south easily done :lol:

Mate of mine went from Nottingham to Blackpool, but on the way back missed the turning and ended up south of birmingham :?

Why are council estates built on the outskirts?
Because the town centres were built before council estates were thought of.

You have to wonder who sets these questions for kids? :)

i was going from holiday at Skegness to LRO show at Malvern
as this is a route ive never taken i downloaded directions from the AAroute Finder
well the wife did the navigating
she proved that if she cant read a map shes got no chance with route finder and an atlas
lost count of how many junctions we missed and how many wrong turns we made :lol:

I live not too far from Bramcote. You'd have thought he'd have nipped and put the heating on so that I could have got a shower when we got back :)
