North East Search And Rescue Volunteers Required!

The easy answer to that would be:
They are not conducting any rescues and never intend to do so, they are just using their 4x4's to convey the emergency service personnel to the scene of an incident when the emergency vehicles are unable to get there for what ever reason.
This being the case, no formal qualification is either required or necessary and the extra training is being formulated in full consultation with the authorities and services with whom they may be working.

Well, maybe not the "easy" answer but I think it's a good one anyway!!

Couldn't have put that better myself budgie, however - and you might like this bit..

I work for the emergency services and we will be doing extra training because we want our members to be able to arrive at the incident with the paramedics safely, so we will be giving driver training on and off road and all our members will need to achieve a certificated driving standard which ALL emergency services drivers have to attain. In addition all our members will be trained by the emergency services in first aid and paramedic assistance, so that when they get to an incident the paramedics know they have someone with them that can help, maybe only to hold a bag or line but they know what to do and why they are doing it.

So if there are any more volunteers around, please get in touch as soon as possible. This is a worthwhile cause and needs dedicated people. Use your hobby to help others and give yourselves a buzz at the same time.

North East Discovery Search And Rescue is now live and is still seeking volunteers in the North East and in Yorkshire.

We now have our own website and have had our first official meeting. A constitution was adopted and committee formed.

If you would like to join in this worthwhile group then please visit the website and lend us your support.

Please remember this is for ANYONE that owns or has use of a 4x4 and is over the age of 21. Associate memberships are also available for those of you who cannot lend fulltime support but can help in other ways.

Hope to hear from some of you soon.
