Track Day
« on: October 13, 2005, 18:09:28 »
(well a 'Track Few-Hours')

I suppose I ought to be happy that my dear wife thinks enough of me to book me a track-session for my forthcoming 40th.

However, I'd told her quite firmly that I was't interested in the slightest in any kind of celebration whatsoever.

Her going away on holiday was reward enough for me :D

So, what does she do?, she calls me from work to tell me she's ordered a 'TVR Experience'

I'd suggested a couple of things hoping it'd put her off due to the price, ie;
Firing up/driving & 'putting away' a Traction Engine, which was over £300  ,  & almost 3hours travel.
Also the 2 local steam preservation railways don't offer 'footplate experiences'
They are Keighley & Worth Valley (site of original 'Railway Children' film), & North Yorkshire Moors.

So I've got to endure a trip to Leicestershire (again) at some point

My guess is also Mallory Park, but there's also Bruntingthorpe that gets used as well.
If it is Bruntingthorpe, there's also the Cold War Jets Collection, & they have a Vulcan :D  :D  :D

I'll send an email to my mate who normally does the experience days   I've not managed to get there for a few months but am still in contact with him :D  Charitable donations are normally bacon butties   and its usually 40 145 that belongs to the Class 40 Preservation Society that does the experience days, although Pete Watermans (pop music mogul) Class 47 is now also being used

it is a brilliant Track they have loads of SUPERCARS like Ferraris, Jaguar XJ220, Aston Martins, TVR's and the Atom.

i was up there with work got an evening out doing gokarting and driving all the super cars (the atom is a brilliant piece of kit) The best was driving the boss' Ferrari 360 Spider down the runway at 230MPH (He hated it     )(Not the ferrari  )

PS the Vulcans still run (THEY TAXI THEM EVERY DAY) they also have a A380 Airbus that they taxi too[/quote]

In that case, it'd better be Bruntingthorpe.

The letter/certificate arrived this morning.
I'm Sure it says Saturdays only, but SWMBO has mega-points from all her stays in Leicester, so we'll overnight at the Holiday Inn

I've been 'genning' up on the performance for the Griffith 500, whilst perhaps not in F430 territory, it's good enough for me :D

Phoned up & booked
Saturday 26th November
It's weather dependant (rain is okay, but ice & snow, no! )

And it is at Bruntingthorpe, so AVroe Vulcan here we come (I'll have to speak to them nicely)

So what is there to do on a November Friday night in Leicester?

Don't all shout; 'Nothing!!'

Bruntingthorpe is a great track i went there last november but we took my uncles lotus, it was a charity day and i was only goin as a passenger but when we got there i found out i could drive it
Wow that was a lot of fun there was ice on the track when i went and i found out very quickly that adrenaline is brown. it was an open pit lane too so we could drive all day. i was the third fastest car on the track only the nobel and the porshe 911 turbo were quicker but then  the head gasket decided to go (whilst i was driving)
you will have a great day i cant wait to go back next time in the caterum 7 but that is still being built :D

Hey ho, the big 4-0 tomorrow & they don't know at work :D  :D

(Rachel did know after seeing my 'cas-card' the other Friday, after my 'fisticuffs'. I think she's forgotten     8) )

I'm not mentioning it in the morning, I might casually say something next week.

Mentioned to one of the Charge-Nurses that I was playing with TVR's for the day & I almost ended up with a drip-stand as a neck-tie

I think he's a bit envious

Dropped the hint to the wife as well that the 'Batman Begins' DVD is out tomorrow
I can hope......

Damn
They found out

My dad was taken in last night with chest pains & he told one of the nurses on the ward he was on it was my birthday.
So when I went to see him this morning, Jude (nurse) started singing "Happy..."

Then she phoned A&E later & told them.
All I got from Helen & Diane (Sisters) was "Where's the chocolate cake?" & "Why aren't you celebrating?"

Did that one have an engine transplant??!   They are good for 190mph absolutely pedal to the metal. The spider is probably a even little slower because it weighs more. Only a few road cars can cope with 230mph and they cost in excess of half a million.

Sorry for being pedantic, but I'm a self confessed Ferrari geek   - I am on the path to recovery though
