I don't know.  I couldn't be stuck down here in London at a worse time.  I'm stuck at a clients site, so haven't me able to make any calls.  As soon as I find out, I'll let you know.

Hard to say what the news really means, I would suggest it implies a daily vehicle limit of 10 unless using site vehicles needs to be clarified

I read that as quite bad, no Xtreme Route, and a Max 10 Visitor Cars per Day. Most clubs would be interested in Xtreme and more than 10 Cars

Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone, I was stuck down in London last week, and couldn't get hold of anybody by phone.  I was only able to get the full picture on Satuday.

Full planning permission has been granted, but with the following conditions.

  • Closure of the XTreme route

  • Opening hours changed to 10:30 - 18:00

  • Maximum of 20 vehicles on site at any time

  • Maximum of 10 owner vehicles to be part of that 20

  • More "permanant" facilities

  • Plus a few other behind the scene operational ones

  •

Some of the conditions require further clarification.  The car park has always been considered part of the "site".  We have no control of vehicles entering the car park.  Do we tell people to wait on the public road?  Does the 20 vehicle include instuctor/patrol vehicles?  etc etc

To me, this is good news for Moorland Adventure Sport (the site operators), but bad news for the off road driving groups.  The planning decision has essentially made Langdale Quest a tourist attraction, rather than an off road driving centre.  The vehicle numbers restriction has essentially stopped clubs visiting LQ, and probably means that owner drivers will need to pre-book before arriving.

There may be a time in the future when MAS can request changes to the conditions, but at the minute they are just considering themselves fortunate to be still in business.

From a personal point of view, I'm just glad I get to keep a job that I enjoy.  I do it not for the money, but for the fun.

thats a bit of a bad one, on the plus side it is still there, but I've never had the chance to ride the course in my own vehicle (only in good ole Eric  :) ) and was hoping to come along and do the XTreme route sometime in the near future :( hope all goes well though

Eric is still going, but I think he'll be the next SJ to retire.

None of the restrictions take affect until the "Section 106 Legal Document" ( :?: )has been drawn up, which could take a few months.  So, if you want to do the Xtreme route, now is the time to do it!

Considering the climate against the sport/hobby at the mo, this is prob better than it could have been, like you said, at least the company is still operating.

Nice one

How about seeing if you can get some military usage on the land, that might open up a few more avenues so to say?

Emailed the owner last night and give him credit he is very up beat about it all, the responce was very quick. As for the xtreme course will have to have another go at that soon , cant let xmob be the only one to get through the maze !, and im sure skywalker would love to try to make the crewcab symetrical by removing the other bumperette
