just wanted to be different, most winch bumpers stick to far out for my taiste, that only leaves the scorpian one, i was just looking for an alternative way of doing it
the paddocks H/D bumper is £225, then plus £100 for the tray, and then a winch at whatever, all adds up dunnit

I get what your saying, nothings cheap when kitting out a Land rover.
A low profile winch /bumper like the camel discoverys might be what your looking for , still not cheap though.

i was talking to the guy from discoparts at the show at Stoneleigh about the same thing and he said they were in the process of designing/making an under slung winch plate to fit between the chassis and seperate heavy duty bumper. He thought they should be available around christmas.
don't know if this helps or how much of a rush your in
regards Neil..

Thats just nasty(sorry if anyone has one). I have a heavy duty winch bumper on mine and used the winch a couple of times this weekend. I had to put the bumper against a tree to recover a g wagon- they are that heavy!. that bumper would have bent like mad, mine pushed in my front wing as it was.
I cant undersatnd why anyone would want to undersling the winch?!? it just makes it prone to mud/ water and hard to get to when you are stuck....normally nose first in a ditch! If you cant get to the hook then you cant use it!
Just my thoughts...

I would argue that's not really designed for serious self-recovery.
Putting the winch there does a couple of things...
It keeps the vehicle looking a lot more standard
It keeps the winch pull down low, which is a good thing in most repsects
It is a lower cost method of mounting a winch for use recovering other things

Rimmer Bros. also list one (RRC part I think) that looks not unlike a steering guard.
