Painting the 101 - what colour?
« on: October 19, 2005, 11:32:10 »
I've been thinking about painting the 101 to make it a bit less military - could be useful if I end up taking it to some of the places I'd like to.

The shortlisted options so far are:

1) Divvy it up into 3ft boxes and paint every box a different colour

2) Tangiers Orange - the colour of the G4 Challenge Land Rovers

3) Feel free to suggest other possibilities...

The danger with black and white is UN / ambulance mistaken identity...

United Colours of Ben Elton is looking very good at the moment - I was pretty sold on the orange until I saw the mock-up of the tooty frooties scheme.

why not paint the front one colour, and the back a different colour, blend in the merge with a bit of metalic grey and it will look like you were violently shunted from behind :S

Simple either "Full" or "Yes"

And I bet it goes straight through the system and doesn't get queried.

Well, despite the poll, I do like the late entrant depicted in Reaper's post.

Anyone suggest where to get such colours of paint, probably in 2-5 litre tins?  I had a chat with the paint guy who goes to many of the LR shows, but he only does 10l tins, which will be way too much, and his colours tend to be more subdued.

Thanks for any pointers;  I've not bought vehicle paint in quantity before!

could try here, brought a few tin of tekaliod  (very nice brushable paint) and they will do any colour you like, best if you can find a paint code but if not they are very helpful. oh and can buy in 1lt tins
