Absolutely right !

If anyone out there doesn't have a cutout switch on their winch... do it *now*

Paying out is bad enough..... but when it pays in on its own there is a big risk of bodily harm and electrical fire

Mike,
id advise you to get a bigger cut of switch as if thats one with the red handles they dont like the heavy current a winch can pull, just got 2 lucas ones of ebay for £33 & they can handle somethin like 1500A for 5 sec or 600A for a minute

get somethin like this -- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4583624247&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT

why not look for a genuine warn one....i got mine from eblag for 26 quid. Comes with all the wiring and a HUGE solenoid. So now i have a dash switch which completely cuts off the winch. Better to stop electrical fires and fiddling little sods at bay!
