Pikeys and Immobilsation

Hi Guys

We have had some Pikeys looking around the local farms nicking landys and tractors.

My 92 Disco has a clifford immobiliser and I was wondering if there is anything else I could do to make sure these gits don't take my girl.

have alook here & fit a heavy master switch inline from the battery cable,ive got one on my 90,might be able to break in but it wont go anywhere

Take the steering wheel off

I fit one of these as well as a device which locks the gearstick in reverse

Also the other device locks the cluth & brake pedals, very difficult to get off down there

As someone else said - take the steering wheel off!  Battery cut offs too but be careful if you have a winch that it's high enough rating.

You could also discon the fuel solenoid - ok it's not a difficult one to spot but another obstacle for your day to day oportunists.

With a diesel its pretty hard to secure it if stuff is mostly manual (like the 200tdi) the thiefs old trick I'm told is to connect a battery live to the fuel solenoid and then everything on the ignition circuit will become live. you then bump start it if you can.

It's got to be a wheel clamp, they'll tow it away if they want it.  Park against a wall, forewards if you can with the wheels turned, then clamp the wheel nearest the wall so it can't be towed by a recovery truck.  Remember they won't mind bending your motor if they can get it away for free, so anything you do must be good and strong.

Get in the habbit of leaving the T-Box in neutral, flip the inertia switch (even move it slightly) but your best bet is to make it b***y obvious from a distance that someone else's car would be easier to nick.

Personally I'd like to wire it up to the mains but the trouble with pikeys is there are so many of the inbreds to come after you, best to keep your head down or buy an automatic weapon.

Go with the "shoot on sight" way of thinking myself but then you would get locked away and they would sue    

The remove steering wheel sounds like best bet. If your looking to spend a few quid as well you can get demountable steering wheel bosses to fit think I've seen them in a landy magazine but should be easy enougth to find on the web. Dont know but may bring insurance down as well - it's always worth a try

I've had one for about 4 years that I bought from a Local Motor accessory shop but I think scorpion started doing them about 6 months ago.
