Spotted a very nice old motor at the Hospital one day last week.

Sadly I saw it disappearing before I could talk to the owner, I'd like one in the (Brunswick??) green, which is fairly similar to British Rail green of the early 60's

it looks more like a P5B coupe,the P5  had a staight six engine configuration

Rover produced two main P5 types;

the 3 Litre Straight Six, known as a P5 and the 3.5 Litre V8 known as the P5B

Both of these models were available in a choice of Saloon or Coupe, the latter being the most desirable.

The P5 (3 Litre) had an option of a manual with overdrive or automatic gearbox.
The P5B (3.5 Litre) was only available as an automatic.

Visual Differences

The easiest way to differentiate between the two models would be the wheels, which on the P5B are Chromed Rostyles.

Other points to note would be side indicators, no hole in the front grille for the starting handle, rubber strips to the over-riders and recessed fog lamps to the front wings - all found on the P5B and not the P5.

i only know those facts as at one time i had rover P6's  P6B's  P5B saloon,P4's a 105 and 80 and tried to buy a cyclops,

Nice old bus, the P5/P5B. A bit heavy, but this gave it an excellent ride quality without fancy suspension. The P6 (I had a V8 auto) was a whole leap forwards in technology. Light, fast and surprisingly nimble. But it lacked a certain elegance that the earlier car had in shed loads.

SHouold have had the gas turbine in my opinion, i worked with one at Uni' and for it's size had a lot of power.  The P6 was designed around it, hence the funny front suspension.
