James found a disco this morning I couldn't resist taing some pics of the poor lad, who had managed it when it was a 3feet deep but not quite at 3½ feet deep... to make matters worse it was daddies car!

The dent in the back is where the bridge stopped him from going further down the river after he got hydraulic lock!

Oh dear, that'll be a bit expensive then.  I do feel a bit sorry for the guy, probably there but for the grace of god go I...  Sometimes those fords are a little too tempting.

There's one in Wakefield that a good few years ago (20-ish?) used to be driveable in a normal car & you'd only get the tyres wet; not even the rim!I used to do it in my Chevette & Subsequent 'Sooty-Mobile' (Bedford Rascal)

Even as late as February 1998, it was still fairly driveable.
In winter the water did get deep & covered the (4foot above stream bed) bridge.

By November 2003 it was well over grown.

I went down on Monday with my waders, & within 15foot of entering the admittedly swollen stream it was almost to the top of the waders (3foot!!)

I've been given to understand that due to the local kids throwing all sorts of rubbish in, it's occassinally cleared out with a JCB & has at least one 4foot hole

In fact it'd probably be the same story if I tried to drive it

It's listed as NewMillerDam

Defender 110Td5 'Heritage Gone, but not forgotten
Jaguar XKR; X88 JLT, also 'gone, but not forgotten'

Yorkshire Born & Bred, and proud of it.

he was meant to be driving to scotland (from berkshire) to pick up rock samples for his uni course!  His mum said his personal loan would be increasing.

Of course I offered to help out by buyingthe salvage of the vehicle :-)  Worst case I reckon a 300 tdi should be able to be had for £1000, everything else should dry out given time and a lot of mildue remover!

there's a depth marker in the middle - not sure if it's in one of th pics or not - it was 3 feet when i got there - it was 6 inches higher when james got there.

Mummy and Daddy both there when I got there, not at all impressed!

We actually gave this one serious consideration.

Estimated to be at bonnet height (with 5 inches of lift)

It was the sheer length of it that caused us to bottle it @ 110 feet
