Came home a little while ago, to find my neighbors outside in the street letting off fireworks. :(mad):  :(stoopid):  ( I live in a block of four flats)

I had to point out that they were putting lives a risk. :(bigshock):
Cheers.

The sooner they take fireworks off public sale, the better.   They should be reserved for people with licences and save a whole lot of trouble.

During silly season in manchester we heard a couple of loud bangs outside the flat one evening, as usual this was put down to people hurling bangers about..

when I went to uni the next morning, there was a white chalk outline on the road outside...

Usual situation here, I've come home from the 'West Yorkshire Mud-Club meet' early, as the Dogs were home alone.

I remember one lad a 2-3 years ago who'd tried to make his own by mixing various shop-bought fireworks in a tin-can......

Shall we just say, ........ he'll never hold a Knife & fork at the same time. I'll give him his due, I heard he was going to offer to go around Schools & give a;

With you all the way Tim, take them off the shelves.

I thought the law changed a couple of years ago making it an offence to set off firework after about 11pm?
Still have to get the police to be interested in doing something about it though!!

Don't know what you boys are complaining about.

For Diwali they started letting off bangers, fireworks and strings of crackers before midday yesterday and there are still some going this morning at 8am.
Despite the noise it has to be said that it was a wonder to see that much gunpowder being launched into the sky for so long, although after the events at the weekend some of the really loud bangs got the attention of the foreigners in the place.
And some of the strings of crackers had to be about 30m long

But that aside, I remember when you only used to get fireworks on bonfire night, and maybe new year if you were lucky.  Seems that now people let them off for any excuse (Diwali and such like accepted).  But I have to agree with jas, it wouldn't be so bad if they stopped early.

I wonder how much CO2 etc this is producing... and whether we can argue that since we don't play with fireworks then we should be able to drive V8s to make up for the defecit in our CO2 production..

hmm, might not work :?

Btw, anyone else see the news about greenpeace running the rainbow warrior 2 aground and destroying around 100m of rare coral reef ?

The law is there.

Fireworks can be used until 2300hrs any time of the year, with the exception of Diwahli, Guy Fawkes Night and New Years Eve.

During Diwahli they can be used until 0100hrs, same for New Years Eve.  For some unknown reason they can only be used until 0000hrs on Guy Fawkes Night!!

There are a few different offences committed if they are used after this time.  They would/could incur an £80 fixed penalty.

It's not that the police are not interested, it's catching the people responsible.  And having enough officers to be able to deal with all the jobs.
