Whilst trying to find a tilting bus image for this thread, I found these images of what not to do with a set of ladders :shock:  :shock:  :shock:

I know it's often a case of just getting on with the job in hand, but................

I'm sure we've all done things that don't fit in with Health & Safety policies and the like....

.....but that is taking things to the extreme!

I like the missile one - bet the guy ran away pretty quick!  The piggy-backed fork-lifts are also a treat.

On a related note, I heard from a friend who is an employee of a major 4x4 manufacturer that a lot of us are very familiar with :) that a transporter loader drove a 4x4 up the transporter and nosedived it straight over the tractor and onto the tarmac.

The point being that they repaired it and sold it *as a new vehicle*!  So some poor mug is driving around in it somewhere.

The bomb one reminds me of the time one of our fork lift drivers was loading a container with reels.  Got several loaded and while he was off to get another, the artic driver who miscounted, pulled away from the ramp to shut the container doors.  Went to change his under garments when fork lift and 1 ton reel of paper landed behind him. :roll:

With regard to the ladders images there was a letter in either the 'Yorkshire Post' or 'Wakefield Express' in the last couple of weeks following the story that a church had been quoted about a £1,000 to change some light-bulbs due to HSE regulations & scaffolding being needed.
The writer pointed out that, as a young man, the company he worked for had the Wakefield Dioscese contract for electrical work.

When the time came to re-wire (for example) Wakefield Cathedral, all tat was done was;

1. Ladders up either side of the Nave (or perhaps against a central pillar?)

1. Scaffolding planks across between the 2 ladders

3. Walk out  & work

4. If extra height was required, an apprentice would hold the legs of a atep-ladder balanced on the planks whilst the 'sparky' climbed aloft :shock:

I put up some curtains in the office (here) on a swivel-chair (wood floor a well, so extra movement on the chair)
