Anyone changed the front seats?
« on: November 05, 2005, 00:11:39 »
My series 3 has a home made cubby box and a pair of what I think are early defender seats.  They have a headrest and are cloth so cant be series?  They are damn uncomfortable!

Anyone found seats that are easy to fit (preferably without a welder) and does this mean you loose the use of the passengers seat box?  What about driving position, I think I am close enough to the wheel with these and im not particularly tall (5'10" ish).

Any suggestions on something I can grab from a scrappers on the cheap?

Cheers,

Mike

i have ford fiesta seats in mine, and they are well comfy, even for my ample backside.
i did weld mine in, but you dont have to, and i can still access my passenger seat box too.
i'll take some photos when i get home from work.

Volvo seats are very popular. I think from the 340 range (the little ones).

I have just put Rangie seats in my 110. I will post a piccy later. Im 5'9", and on the large side, and i still find it comfy. :D

Thanks for the tips!  Any pics would be great - I might look for cheap seats on ebay when I decide what type I want.

Cheers!

hi xuxy

got any pics of your existing seats?? if theyre like ours and the cushions arent knackered i may be interested in em if you change.

i have also just bought a set of saab 95 seats which are apparently a dead easy fit into a LR.

im also still working how to get round the battery box access issue.

I have Honda seats in mine very nice. I don't know the model of car but its the honda with the rear wheel which stear aswell. I also am only small. They fit me not a problem as they sit forwards alot so I can reach the pedals. Head rests aswell will go get a pic now if camera is charged.

Recaros out of a GTE and built a box in the middle. Just made some L shape brackets and bolted them in.

So it looks like all sorts will fit :D

Mine arent worth selling, rips in the cushions.  Think I can feel a trip to the scrap yard coming on!
