Me and Waterpumps!!
« on: November 07, 2005, 17:06:29 »
My old 200tdi which I had for 4 years had to have the waterpump replaced after I had owned it for about 3 years. Not bad going some would say.

My 300tdi came with a new engine (replaced at 134,000miles) everything was shiny and new. About 8 months ago the water pump failed and I ordered one from Rimmers and got my mechanic to sort it for me, I was with him when he done it and it seemed a awkward sort of job because of all the pulley's that need to come off. But we did and everything was Dandy. 3 years again from a pump, not to bad again I hear you say!!

Then today, my good friend Frankieboy phones me up and invites me out for a spot of brekky, coz im off work and he doesnt start til later in the week. As I pull up near Franky my steering had gone solid and I nearly took out a parked car near the last corner I turned, I pulled up and said to Frank about my steering, and he said " what about all the water spewing from under the bonnet!!"

We open the bonnet and looked in through all the steam. And agreed it was the waterpump that  had gone again!! AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH.

We stil had brekkie, then popped back to my mechanic who was local to us.

£52 later and some antifreeze the problem was solved. Now how long should I wait before this one goes!!

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

Just playing with thoughts, not really seen one although I would wonder if you could, just what to do with the hole where the mechanical one is

You can get standard electric water pumps from the likes of Demon tweeks.

You would just leave the mechanical pump in place or replace it with a pulley, as the belt path would probably be a fiddle otherwise.
