Soft top discovery

I guess Land Rover never made a soft-top or convertible Discovery, but has anyone ever made one.  Just wondered what it would look like.  I used to love driving around in the Series IIA with the roof and door tops off  8)

There were a few Range Rover soft-tops made to special order for people with lots of money...  would look much the same as that I would think.

One of the defining characteristics of the Disco is the roof line, which I doubt you would go to the trouble of trying to replicate with a canvas.

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

Aww, NO! . Did somebody open the ark of the covenant? That thing is hideous. I'm sorry I ever brought the subject up now. Sorry guys

Having said that, I wonder what it looks like with the top down and the door tops off?  :D

Years ago in 'LRO' (circa 1993) there was a soft-top Discovery that looked very good indeed.
Can't remember who did it, but it was one of the big conversion companies

Jaguar XKR; X88 JLT, also 'gone, but not forgotten'

That's more like it Colin.  Looks much better without the doortops.  But if I was building one, I'd leave the cage off the back there for certain, kind of spoils the line. Perhaps just a single chrome roll bar instead  8)

It was Vantagefield
The feature was in the April 1993 edition, along with a white 4-door Range Rover convertible
The (3-door) Discovery was green, with 'FreeStyle' alloys & a black top.

I can scan it if necessary

Now those are very nice conversions. Wouldn't mind either the disco or the range rover soft top from those guys  8)

A few more pics of the maroon 2 door Disco soft top can be found at:

It's not my cup of tea either, but each to his own.
