Has any one come across a school that needs an ASBO put on it,
We have a school across the road from us that seems to think it ok to use the roads around it as an extension to their car park, they also use peoples driveways for the same purpose, whilst people are out at work,the school also thinks it is ok to be used at all hours 7 days a week.
This morning it was a 4 am start with car door slamming and screeching of tyres.
during the week you cannot get a bus or emergency vehicle down the roads surrounding it or have visitors at your property due to the "car park extension" terriffic thing is the local councillor is on the board of govenors and has helped them get approval for an extension with the intentions of having another 650 on top of the 1,700 kids there already so it is not an option to complain through him and i am getting fed up with not being able to park my vehicle on our driveway, in fact being able to park within 1/4 of a mile of our property, the police dont want to know either so........................when i get home between the hours of 9am and 15,30 and find one of their pupils cars on the drive I am going to put it in the garage without opening the door as i feel it only fair to share my other facilities with the pupil and also show how much of an IMPACT it is having on me. does any one think I will attract some attention through this action and get something done about a school that thinks it has a right to harrass its neighbours in as many ways as possible and at anytime as it sees fit.

re the not being able to get emergency vehicles in due to the parking problem , i have a friend in the fire service who had a solution to that They had the same problem with a road in the town he works in cars parked everywhere overspilling from the station, they got one of the residents to dial 999 and call the fire service out to his house when the fire engine couldnt get thru all hell broke loose :twisted:  evry time a car parked there the police towed them for a month no trouble since.
If a fire engine cant access your house and your on fire you have a problem

Put a small sign up - Private property, Unauthorised vehicles will be clamped , Release Fee £200 - and then clamp anyone parking in your drive.  Not as satisfying as working the car over with a baseball bat, but legal and financiaaly rewarding!

Next time they park in your drive jack it up, take the wheels off and leave it on bricks.


You could get the neighbours to all club together and employ one of these clamping firms to police the street.

or set up your own clamping company!
You need to try and go above your councillor...go to the local council meeting and get as many of your neighbours to go with you. this kind of thing tends to get under your skin and you need to do something before you find yourself swinging a baseball bat at a spotty 17year old.
The thing that always winds me up is that the police seemingly dont care....until the second you break the law. If you put someones windows through i bet they are there in a flash

You could also contact OFSTED and report the school as failing the local community.

Write to the planning department and keep an eye on planning applications. If they are putting in an extra 650 kids they will need new buildings that require space that could be better used for carparks

Mkae sure you have a dropped access and that it is marked with a white line

Fit a locable sucurity post to your drive

Ring up the headmaster everytime it happens. Take up his time, he is too busy to be harressed. Write him a letter everytime it happens and demand a responce and ask him to give you solutions (schools can ban pupils from bringing cars to school)

i thought it was an offence to block some ones drive and as for parking on your drive i would block them in and say the motor has broken or something, or say next time its on my drive i claim it possesion is 9/10th of the law, adding you parked it on my PRIVATE LAND

had a similar problem with people blocking my parents drive a few years ago.
We ordered one of those big 1 ton sacks of building sand and had it delivered when someone had parked on the drive.
totaly blocked the drive with there car on it then we got local community police offerer involved who we knew anyway
That was just one car though that would do this on regular basis but he never did it again.
Have you got local press involved yet or local fire saftey officer?
If emergency vechicles cant access street also get in touch with local police etc.

I had the same problem when i lived in Bromley, kent.  I lived near the train station and commuters arriving late for their trains used to grab the first space and run for the train leaving their cars blocking every drive going.

So one day i had one car on the drive, one on the road and was out with my third.  

There was an additional space on the drive for the third.

When i returned at about 4pm some D%%k had parked directly outside my drive stopping me from getting my car on the drive, also stopping me getting my other car off the drive.

I telephoned the police who said they could put a notice on the car giving them 24 hrs to move it (great)

So i printed off a notice explaining what an idiot he was parking there.
AND GLUED IT DIRECTLY INFRONT OF THE DRIVERS SEAT

Approx 7pm (late december) a young spotty lad turned up donned with suit ( and no coat ) arrived to see the notice.

Unable to drive (as he could not see) he proceeded to pick off bits of the notice with his key whilst i had a coffee in the garage overlooking him.

He had the balls to come up and ask if he could have something to get it off, which i replied i was too busy.

It took him 1 hr to shift enough of the notice to be able to drive.  he he he

The following week i saw his car frantically looking for a place and was astonished when he did the same again.

So this time a change of tactics, One transit backed up infront of his car (1 inch from the bumper) and a vauxhall vetra backed up to the rear of the car (1 inch from the bumper) (and 2 notices on his window which included the face that i was going out and would be back the following evening (but within 24 hrs))

when i returned at the time i promised he was standing there with PC Plod.

He came up and said sorry for his parking behaviour and promised never to do it again.

PC Plod then said how he found it funny but mentioned that i could have been prosecuted for the notices to his car.  OOPS
He went on to say that unless i admit to doing the notices there was nothing he could do.

I said thankyou and bid him a good night.

Nah I just recommend we all unite and get all our Landies down there Sunday night. Come Monday morning everyone finds the streets full of us and they will have to park elsewhere  :lol:

Last motor that blocked my drive i dragged it out the way, no hassles no fuss.

People tend not to park outside my house though.

A friend of my Mum's had similar problem's. They overcame it by using a jam and water mix to stick notes to the side windows. Apparently the logic was they may get prosecuted for using glue as it may permanently damage the vehicle whereas jam wouldn't and the side windows so that it was possible to move the vehicles away.

friend of my brothers owns a paint ball sight near plymouth theres big notices on the main gate "NO PARKING 24 HOUR ACCESS REQUIRED" and another sigh "VECHICLES BLOCKING ACCESS WILL BE REMOVED"(but no notices to advertise whats actualy there when theres no one about for obvious reasons)The sight is in quite remote area so they get a couple of cars blocking the gate every year - its mostly ramblers who park up for the day and go off on there little missions.
The sight owner is friendly with the farmer who used to own the woods the sight is on and he's got a JCB teleporter forklift he uses on the farm...

If cars are found there blocking entrance the sight owner has no problems with asking the farmer to lift them with the forklift and put them up the road a few hundred yards.

He had one numpty who tried to get the police involved as claimed that it had written off his car so the sight owner showed the police the signs etc and pointed out that the car would have to have been on his private land as the gates a fair bit back off the road
Police said that he may just want to tow them in future but they pointed out to car owner fact that he was on private land etc and that could be sued for trespass and potential loss of income had the gate been left blocked

Thanks every body for the ideas an even nicer donation has been made by the neighbours rotty, 16 neighbours are now armed with ..... how should i say ..............a substance worthy of immediate washing of hands ....for purposes of anti theft this will be attached to door handles every time a vehicle is deposited in a driveway and also when it obstructs access to properties and as such will be a reward for crappy parking ....if you all will excuse the pun

If trumpton (fire brigade) can't can't through to an address due to bloackages, they are legally entitled to "ram" the vehicles out of their path!!!

Oh and THEY WON'T BE PAYING FOR THE DAMAGE!!!!!

Apparently if you tell your insurance co. that you blocked Trumpton on a shout they go "Yeah, what you expect then" 8)

a reward for crappy parking

A friend of mine did something similar once, he stuck some fish (can't remember which) in the air intake for the heater, not quickly noticed, but once heated the smell would have been there for ages.

I agree with the other suggestions of a fire and then a 999 call.

I was always under the impression that the fire brigade can cause as much damage as they like trying to get to a fire!

Some years ago whilst at a hospital, I heard the sirens going and in they came. Cars were parked all over the place, and double parked along the roadways. The fire engine just smashed its way through to get to its fire point. The other two engines did excactly the same when they arrived.

Im  not sure if this was becuase it was on private property or not , but there were at least 50 motorists with extremely damaged cars there that day.

So- by just torching the one car on your driveway you could teach all the owners of badly parked cars in the area a much needed lesson!! And there wouldn't be a thing they could do about it...
