Edelbrock intake and weber carburetor

I am looking to put the Edelbrock intake and weber carburetor on my 3.9L and get rid of the EFI system.
  Dose anyone know if the 3.5L intake is the same as a 3.9L? I contacted Edelbrock and they said they only make one for the 3.5L. As far as I know the engine is the same just a bigger bore and the valves are larger. The basic engine is the 215 Buick.
  I know that RPi engineering is selling the kit on eBay for £430. I can get them from the U.S. for $500 (£275) and I am going to the U.S. mid December.
  So any advice would help.

& you plan totally on street driving,never going offroad??

I Totaly Agree with Redlinemike,  Dont go down the Edebrock route its pants.
I had Efi problems on my Rangerover so I decided the best way wass to ditch the whole lot and go for the Edelbrock, Got mine from RPI for nearly 1k and it was total rubbish.
The first one was faulty, took me ages to figure out that the zinc coating the carb was covered with inside and out was flaking off in one of the float chambers and blocking the jets, RPI would nit send me a new one until I sent the old one back even though I sent them pictures of the damage that was obviously Manufacture defect, but they still made me send it back first which left me with no transport for a week. :(bigangry):
My second one was ok on the road but crap off road, it really couldnt cope with any sort of odd angle, even though RPI told me that the carb had been developed for off road driving. :(bloodshot):
So really, really dont do it unless you are staying on the road.
In which case why have you got a Landrover (Weirdo). :(biglaugh):

Ok I will not use the Weber carb. I will use the predator carb. Thia carb is use by all the extreme rock crawlers in the US and some of the places they go would amaze you.

And the predator is a variable CFM  that means it provides the right amount of air to fuel that the engine demands

Good Idea, You Wont Regret Not Buying An Edelbrock, It Will Be Interesting To Hear How Your Carb Performs, I hope It Is Ok But If The Rock Crawler Use Them Then I Am Sure It Will Be Ok For What We Do. :(bigsmile):

Veeeight Did you have any problems fitting the intake to your engine? Do you still have the fitting kit(thermostat housing, throttle cable mounting hardware)?

Yes I Had A Few Problems As The Threads Cut In The Manifold Were In Some Daft American Thread So Had To Wait Till RPI Sent Me The Right Bolts And Then I Had To Fabricate The Choke Linkage And Throttle Linkage To Suit The Ex-EFI Set Up. :(bloodshot):
No I Havent Got Anything Left, I Sold It All As A Set On Ebay To Some Chap Building A Road Going KIt Car (Ideal Use For The Carb). :roll:

What threads?  The ones for the carbonator or the ones for the thermostat housing?

Yer The Ones For The Thermostat Housing Which They Didnt Send Me Either. :(bloodshot):
Apart From All That The Manifold And Carb Went On With No Other Problems, Just Had To Modifying The Heater Pipes, Involving Drilling A Hole In The Blanked Off Small Water Outlet In The Back Of The Water Pump To Join A Water Feed To The Manifold As The EFI Manifold Was Not Water Heated.
Of Course Once It Was All Fitted And Running I Had To Come Up With A Way Of Connecting A Snorkel To It, I Found That The Rubber Air Intake Elbow Off A Ford EFI System (such as the sierra or granada 2.8i) Fits Over The Inlet Whole Just Right. \:D/
All Do-Able Stuff But Just A Bit Time Consuming And Needs Thinking About A Bit. :roll:
