batteries flat on the 90 so have just called the AA.
No problem we'll have someone out to you in the next hour was there first estimate.
just had another callback from them. "oh sorry looks like we wont be able to get there untill about HALF PAST TWO!!!!!!

And its coming up to membership renewal time ....
must make a point of getting some jump leads

Jump leads would cost lots less than a renewal (except with a renewal they do bring you a vehicle to connect them too).

I'd suggest you need both..... but there has been lots of tak on here recently about NOT using the AA....

One of those things - keep meaning to get a set and never get around to it but I'm not renewing with the AA now looks like its going to be greenflag or similar

Well worth investing in a decent 'heavy' set of jump leads given the sort of vehicles we drive and the size of the batteries!

Do a search on the others too before you swap... may look greener, but not always!

Me, I wouldn't go with Green Flag either after they charge my brother Ã‚Â£250 to tug him from the end of a green lane (I'm talking about 4' from the tarmac)

Just got a meaty set from Halfords actually. They're long enough to reach the battery box on the 101, and come in a handy plastic box which makes them take up much more space than they need to.

I've actually found the AA ok, but just switched to the RAC because of the weight limit restriction with the AA. I've only used them once so far, but they were pretty incompetent (took 3 goes to find a recovery truck big enough, despite me & the patrol spelling it out at each stage, and kept telling me I didn't have cover, which I knew was total rubbish.) We'll see.

Always have them, also having a second battery for the extras helps, just jump off that one to start the motor

But its amazing how many times I get a call to go out to start a car from
my friends garage, when they are busy

But nowadays you can also pick up a booster pack, although be careful that way some of them wont power a flash light

I used to be with the AA but no more for the last 3 years.

RAC are cheaper and always find them helpful and friendly.

Also they cover my caravan for nothing as well. Bargain!

Got recovered by my Insurance company's suby this morning.

CMG In Northampton. Bloke was pretty good, arrived a little late (quoted 1 hour, took 1 hour 20 mins). But then again he did say with the cold snap at the mo they are Mega Busy.

He didn't have the kit he needed (a couple of pipes) as he had ran out that morning, so he got on the blower and another unit in the area dropped one by while he was passing.

He had a blumin good go at fixing the Fronty (new pipes on the injectors, cracked em open, that sort of thing).. but no joy. So he towed me to the Garage.

The girl on the phone asked me some basic questions about the motor.. make, model, was it a 4x4, and:

"Is it part time or permanent 4x4 sir", (which I thought was quite good for a recovery call centre)

They had a BIG truck out to me.

Quite impressed... just hope I get the same service and happiness when the garage gives me the damage slip (the bill).

I vote other..

Ive used AA and RAC my dad swears by Green Flag( something to do with the Caravan Club) but im now with ADAC in Germany.

By far the best service and you get a lot more on the discount side if you show you ADAC card.

Do a search for a recent poll on which recovery company is best - lots of interesting experience on there.

I am with the RAC and have generally been impressed. No fuss and if I say bring a truck, they don't send out a patrol first.

I'm with the AA - but its coming up for renewal time and I'm wondering if it's worth it. I've only ever had to call them out twice in 9 years, and one of those times was for a mate of mine who had a strange idea of restoring a vehicle (check the lights, paint some bits, but ignore the moving bits).

Given they won't come out to you after motorsports events and the like and that my car is used almost exclusively for off-road stuff, I'm kinda wondering if it's cheaper not to bother.

my gearbox died in cardiff yesterday so called the AA

they said they will be there within 2 hours! (its not summer and i bet its kushty warm in their aircon office!)

hour later i get towed to cardiff gate services

then another truck turns up saying he has been called cos he was told the first guy needed help to get the car off the motorway

THEN a third one turns up (flatbed)

to take me home

and i didnt even get to watch the rugby
