Hi guy's, those of you that are still here

,

Got a bit of a problem with swmbo's disco, ( 2001 td5 )its leaking fuel quite bad now down to 15mpg, i can see where its leaking from but dont know what its called or how much it will cost,

Its at the top of the engine on the o/s at the back of the head, has two fuel pipes , one electrical plug & a diaphram looking thingy on it where the diesle is dripping from.

Any ideas :?: , or shall i but shares in BP :?: ,

sounds like your describing an electric lift pump or a primer for the injection pump?

Got a couple on my phone when it was on a mates ramp, if i can now work out how to get them on here :? , think i'll have another beer first then all will seem so simple

i would hazard a guess thats a primer for the fuel system when you need to bleed it or similar

its the fuel block that allows the fuel to enter the internal fuel rail in the head,IIRC its about Ã‚Â£75 for the block & Ã‚Â£3 ish for the gasket,BTW its very high fuel pressure in the system

whats actually leaking is the oneway valve that alows the air in the system to blead out IE when you first switch on the ignition it whines for a bit then stops as the fuel is up to pressure,these gradually leak overtime & then P*** out fuel all over the shop,dead easy to do but you need to remove the starter to get into it

the bits thats leaking is just there to let the air out,

Did you know the TD5 only has 4 glow plugs as where No5 would go is where the fuel block is

,

one pipe is in,the others out & the lecky conection is to monitor what temp the fuel is (warm/hot)

can you PM me either your VIN or REG no as there are 2 fuel blocks & 2 gaskets depending on VIN

MSO 000060 is from (v)2a736340
MSO 000080 is up to ^^

MSX 100080
MSX 000010 are the gaskets depending on vin

Mike, just orederd the fuel block, had a diagram faxed from dealers & you were bang on Ã‚Â£70.85 + gaslet at Ã‚Â£1.24, just hope its as easy as you say.

its a bit of a fiddle but if you drop the starter out it becomes easy to get into the bottom bolts

Mike thanks for all the info, fitted it on fri night took 20 mins,

well took my pal 20 mins I made the coffee & told him what a great mechy he was

, didn't take the starter out but he has got 8inch long fingers :lol: ,

that a good point actually but those ones may come with tyres but the advert is quite vague so I'm not sure.
