You don't have to adjust the fuel pump if you fit a bigger intercooler, it's just that the extra air allows you to use more fuel if you wish, but by using extra fuel sometimes it's not all burned properly and you get the black, carbon smoke. Blueish grey smoke is usually attributed to burning engin eoil and white smoke/steam to excess moisture in the exhaust (head gasket ro cold morning etc).
So to scure your smoke try not using full throttle, at least from low revs, push the throttle progressively as the speed increases. Black smoke=wasted fuel!
