thinking about a 2 inch old man emu lift ?

thinking about a 2 inch old man emu lift on disco 2 with ace does anyone have this done is it OK to lift 2 inch with ace or does it effect the car?i have read the article about a disco 2 with ome 2 inch lift on the expedition exchange but i don't think that it has ace just wondering if it is ok to do

ACE doesn't have a problem with a moderate lift.  In fact you'll get a good result because it'll keep the body roll in check.

Do you have airbags at the back?  If so you'll need spacers (for the sensors, or the bags, or both) - Discoparts sell them.

You can lift 2" or even 3" without major issues.  You'll need to make sure your brake lines and ABS sensor lines are long enough.  Some people report problems with castor angles and suggest castor corrected radius arms, but I've not found it an issue at around 2".

You also may find your prop shafts give up the ghost earlier than before.  I've not found any issues, but as I said, some people have worse luck.

Old Man Emu 779s at the front will give you about 1.6" lift and allow you to fit 265/75s or 235/85s.  OME 751s at the front will give you something just over 2".  I'm not sure which springs you'll need for 3" but somebody like Devon 4x4 can probably advise.  I think the dampers for 2" or less would be 107/108s, IIRC.

Disco 2s cope fine with lifts, it's not a major job but use spring compressors to make life much easier!

thanks yes i do have air bags at the back i have been studying which ones to get and did come up with a pretty much the same answer as your suggestion,i have also had a look at the spacers on the disco parts web site,did you have to do any trimming of the inner wings with the 235/85s as i used to run this size bfg atrs on my defender and was well happy with them, also is there any trimming needed with 265/75s size tires i don't really fancy hacking away at the wings!

235/85s and 265/75s are pretty much the same diameter.  Both will be very close to your inner wing liner at the front of the front wheel arch, but won't actually rub, unless you clout the bumper on something :roll:

The easiest way to rectify this would be to remove the inner wing liner:  it's only plastic, and only the front bit needs to come off.  The down side is that your foglights would get covered in mud.  Nothing else is too close to rubbing as far as I can see.

Alternatively, you could just wait until the tyre rubbed a hole through it of its own accord;  if it does then fine, if it doesn't then it didn't matter anyway.
