thought i should share this with you all...me and my friends were coming back from france today on a p&o ferrie ,there was a bad sea swell across the channel.we got within half an hour from dover when the captain informed us that we are joining other ferries to search for a man overboard who somehow fell overboard on the ferry that left 3/4 of an hour before us.after about twenty minutes he was found by a sea france ferry that had also joined the search.the poor soul must have been in the water for nearly an hour but was found alive thank god ...must have been frozen poor [!Expletive Deleted!]......but well lucky..

Crikey.  But it's kind of heartening to know they all club together to look for you if you tip off the side.  Lucky guy...  he must have thought his goose was cooked.

it stil confuses me how people still fall overboard!

on the ferries i have been on, you cant just slip overboard, the barriers are about 4-5ft high so you have to either make a concerted effort to fall overboard or climb the bars (or be a complete nonce and show off to your mates doing some stoopid things on the rails)

How about running along the deck and slipping on water / ice?  I think I'm tall enough to pitch over the edge if I did that.  But I take your point.

worse than being found, he / she probably intended to do it, and got found! whats the chance of that! they're probably somewhere right now thinking Bl**dy French!
