Dagnabit!  #-o

Can anyone let me know if the PAS pump from a 1990, 3.9 v8* (non-serpentine) is servicable. Ours (mine and Wolfie) has siezed solid.

If its strippable; we'll strip it and rebuild it. If it isn't, we'll have to post an advert in the 'wanted' bit!

Cheers

*Okay, the car is a 1990 ex- Swiss military 110, so lordy only knows when the engine was built. But its definately not a serpintine front cover!

Most PAS pumps have a round silver plate on and if you look hard you will see if there is a ring holding the plate in. I dont know your pump so I cant be defo but have a look.....

You've got it then! :D

That's a downer about the pump, I can't imagine that the pump is rebuildable, but to be honest I don't know. :(

Which pump is it?  There is a small ally one and a bigger cast one, I think?

I've got a spare (small one) you can borrow if you like, although I'll need to replace it before the start of next season.

Regards

H

Well, would have been rude not to, really!  8)

Tell me about it. The motorway was fine, but getting into a tight parking spot back home was more, shall we say, 'amusing'!

Uhhh, dude, I'll have to refer you to our technical department!  :-s  Seriously, I think it's the ikkle one. The bigger jobbie came in the the serpentine front, or so I've been led to beleive. Having said that, it seems that the units are fairly much interswappable providing you can swap the pulleys.

Awwww, you star! We'll let you know soon. I'll need another regardless as the new engine (ho ho ho!  8) ) doesn't have a pump on either, otherwise I'd have borrowed it from that!

We'll be in touch.

Having had a look around, I would say it's the cast one rather than the alloy one. Have also seen that seal kits are available so would guess that they are rebuildable.

It looks as if the pully mountings are similar so it probably doesn't matter which one we get.

I suppose we could steal the one off Mrs Eeyore's Disco when we put the engine from the new car into that.

I'll, um, let you explain that to her - She won't slap you!

Shall we try for a rebuild, then? It might not be such an invitation to Slapsville........

Er, maybe not then, there's always a first time, and I have an ongoing need for nice meals.

Having just looked at the book of lies, I would say that getting a second hand pump would be the way to go.

We will discuss further in the near future.

Cheers
