I've had a Denviks :(
« on: December 12, 2005, 16:39:23 »
Parked the Discovery up last week in the secure compound where I keep the 101.  Just dropped the 101 back and some bar steward has reversed into the Discovery

They've knocked a hole in the bumper, and even though nothing else is damaged, it's still going to cost me a few hundred quid to get a new bumper, of course.

The flatbed truck parked next to me had also been damaged, but more so.  So whoever did it has managed to drive into two vehicles next to each other, one after the other.

My chief suspect is the JCB.  The damage has been done by something sharp and angular in both cases, and most of the vehicles in the compound are soft and rounded (eg caravans).  There are plenty of JCB tyre marks around.

I spoke to the owner, and she has said that she and her husband have been away abroad and have only just got back, and it's only him who can drive the JCB.  Well, somebody's been driving it, as there is a large bucket-shaped hole in the ground just next to where I park, and it wasn't there last week.

So she's going to make enquiries and see what she can find out.  Meanwhile I have a bloody hole in my car.

Sorry to hear about the damage, hopefully a culprit (with insurance) will be found.

Not sure if your wording was right though:

secure compound

Maybe you'd be better leaving it on the local council estate instead.

Yeah, I was just thinking that.  It has a swipe-card gate so they can check who has accessed it, but that's not really going to help much - I can't prove anything.

Of course, it's a colour coded bumper, so I'm looking at about £250 for the bumper, a couple of hundred to get it painted, plus the VAT, so this isn't going to be cheap.  I'll look at alternatives, but none of the DII bumpers are cheap.

You would have a slim chance of finding a secondhand colour coded bumper, but do you pay the money for one of those or pay the excess on your insurance and have it done properly  :?

If there is any chance of finding someone to blame then I would suggest the latter

Unfortunately it's the front...  Ã‚£250 for a front one, or I can get the newer style off the 03 model year for about a hundred quid less, bizarrely enough;  not sure how well it would fit.

like you said it is proving it the swipe card will have a log of who's been in unless you have documented prove it was them,

sorry mate on to a looser unless the site had CCTV footage then you might be able to tie it.

unfortuanlty this what i hear about day in day out in my job
