Got a phone call at work today about 3 o'clock - went something like this
Hi Kenny it's Ian
   Hi Ian how are you doing ?
Not very well - do you know where Auchafour farm is ?
   Yes
Do you know the forest road that goes to the end of the glen ?
  Yes
Do you know the quad track that leads to the top of the hill ?
  Yes
Can you come and pull me out I've put my Disco on its side !
Silly [!Expletive Deleted!] has a contract with the Forestry Commision to remove dumped cars - he gets along this track that is about 2 inches wider than his Disco - attaches his winch to this fiesta that has been dumped and promptly pulls himself into the ditch !
Trouble is the ditch is about 4 feet deep and his motor ends up on its side
Took me and my son 4 hours to get him out with my 90 - dark, freezing cold  and raining !
Still , haven't laughed so much for ages and it was good fun really !

Got a few pictures on my phone but it was a bit dark (and wet ) so they didn't come out too well
Ian has promised me a bottle of Jack Daniels - he'd better come up with the goods or his Disco's going back in the ditch !
The fiesta is still there - I just winched it onto It's roof so I could get passed to pull Ian out
Nice wee project for the weekend methinks !

Reminds me of a few years ago - a mate had his XR3i stolen.  He was contacted by the police the next day to say it had  been found up a (green)lane frequently used for dumping/burning out stolen motors - and he needed to get it moved asap. Relatively undamaged - stereo & wheels gone,  layng on its belly.

As I had a biggish van at the time we loaded up with trolley jacks & some old wheels and managed to get it mobile.  Just as we were about to leave, 4 blokes stepped out of the undergrowth and accused us of nicking it.  They were police, and spent 45 min going over my van - longer than they spent investigating the theft of his car.  totally off-topic, but it just reminded me...

Now thats what you call a job! :D

Mind you I wouldn't want the hard shoulder recoverys. Those boys (and occasional gals!) deserve a medal for that kind of work.
